A product name and quantity are not always enough to quote piping fittings accurately. Products with a similar appearance may differ in material, dimensions, connection method, pressure rating and applicable standard.

Providing the following information can make the quotation process faster and more reliable.

1. Product Type

Specify whether you require an elbow, tee, coupling, reducer, union, adapter, cap or another type of fitting.

A reference photo or catalogue number can help when the product name is uncertain.

2. Material

Confirm the required material, such as:

PPR

Copper

Brass

Stainless steel 304 or 316

Another specified material

Material requirements should reflect the application and operating environment.

3. Size and Connection Method

Provide the nominal size, outside diameter or thread size. Also identify the required connection method, such as:

Socket fusion

Solder or end-feed

Press connection

Threaded connection

Flanged connection

Threaded products may also require confirmation of the thread standard.

4. Standard and Pressure Requirements

If the project or market requires a particular product standard, include it in the RFQ.

For pressure-bearing systems, provide the required pressure rating and, where possible, the operating temperature and medium.

5. Quantity

List the quantity for every item and size. An Excel BOQ is usually the most efficient format for inquiries containing many specifications.

6. Application

Explain whether the product will be used for potable water, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, industrial piping or another application.

7. Required Documentation

Inform the supplier if you require:

Product datasheets

Test reports

Material certificates

Inspection records

Certificates of origin

Specific certification or project-submittal documents

Document availability must be verified against the exact product and manufacturing source.

8. Delivery Information

Include the destination country or port, expected delivery date and preferred trade term where available.
